Father Volunteer Initiative

Today, September 20th, 2018 we kicked off the “Ranger Dads” father volunteer program at my son’s school (Salina Elementary in Judson ISD – San Antonio, TX). I’m so excited to lead this program. We basically encourage dads to volunteer at least 1 day out of the entire school year to come and “be Dads.” They will read and work with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, help at the cafeteria, help at the gym/specials, and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with as many students as possible. Studies show a child who has a positive adult male role model who actively engages on his or her life is twice as likely to graduate high school and is most likely to develop more fully socially, physically and academically. I hope more schools adopt a similar program or join the nationwide WatchDogs program. Every minute counts. #fatherhood
